  • We’re glad you asked that. Apart from our natural flavourings, all our ingredients are sustainably sourced. Our green tea is Rainforest Alliance certified, which means it has a particularly high standard of sustainability.

The maté extract – indigenous to Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay – is sourced in Sao Mateus in Brazil, along with the acerola juice also sourced in Brazil.

Guarana extract is sourced in established agricultural areas like Bahia and Amazonas in Brazil.

  • Good question. We’ll explain. Aluminium cans are just as recyclable as glass bottles, but take less energy both to produce and recycle, so they have a lower carbon footprint. Aluminium is also lighter than glass, so it’s easier to transport, which again lowers the carbon footprint.

  • No. YULA definitely doesn’t contain taurine and our energy ingredients are 100% plant-based.

The mental energy you get from YULA drinks comes from the caffeine in our green maté, green tea and guarana. All our energy ingredients are plant-based, so the caffeine is plant based too.

  • Green maté is a plant that’s native to South America. It comes from an evergreen holly (Ilex paraguariensis) and is pronounced “mah-tay” in its home country of Brazil. It’s grown and processed mostly in Northern Argentina, Paraguay and South Brazil.

The maté herb, and maté tea, play an important role in Latin American culture. The word “mateando” (drinking maté) is a symbol of hospitality. So, in true tradition, I guess it’s time you found a drinking partner!

  • Guarana is a tropical fruit that’s native to the Amazon rainforest. They have a striking look. The outside is bright red, and when opened they can look like an eye because of the black and white colours inside. No wonder it’s called the “fruit like the eyes of the people” in the local tribal language.
